New Discovery in the Outer Solar System

On Aug. 24, 2023, more than three decades after the first confirmation of planets beyond our own solar system, scientists announced the discovery of six new exoplanets, stretching that number to 5,502. From zero exoplanet confirmations to over 5,500 in just a few decades, this new milestone marks another major step in the journey to understand the worlds beyond our solar system.

The Hakuto-R Mission 2

The Hakuto-R Mission 2, launched on January 15, 2025, is a pioneering lunar expedition that aims to explore the Moon's surface in unprecedented detail. Developed by ispace, the Hakuto-R Lunar Lander is designed to deliver a cutting-edge lunar rover to the Mare Frigoris region, where it will conduct a range of scientific experiments and gather vital data on the lunar surface. Equipped with state-of-the-art cameras, sensors, and sampling equipment, the rover will provide invaluable insights into the Moon's geology, composition, and atmosphere, while also testing technologies for future lunar missions.

India's NVS-02 satellite launch

India's NVS-02 satellite, launched on January 28, 2025, marks a significant milestone in the country's space program. The satellite, launched using the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV), is designed to provide navigation services to the Indian region, augmenting the existing NavIC constellation. With its advanced navigation payload, NVS-02 will enable accurate positioning, timing, and navigation services for various applications, including aviation, maritime, and land transportation, further solidifying India's self-reliance in space technology

New Horizons: Exploring Pluto's Icy Surface

New Horizons observed a large, young, heart-shaped region of ice on Pluto and found mountains made of water ice that may float on top of nitrogen ice. It discovered large chasms on Charon and found that its north pole was covered with reddish material that had escaped from Pluto's atmosphere.
